Fall 2025 Section Meeting – WVU-Potomac State College/Frostburg State University

WVU-Potomac State College and Frostburg State University are pleased to announce that this year’s American Association of Physics Teachers Appalachian Section Meeting will be held on November 7-8, 2025 in Frostburg, Maryland.

We are excited to announce the keynote speaker for the Fall 2025 meeting of the Appalachian Section of the AAPT, Steve Spangler. In addition to providing a public talk that will kick off the Appalachian STEM Festival held on Frostburg State University Campus on Saturday, 8 November, Steve will also be conducting workshop that same day from 1 to 2 pm. In order to ensure that we have appropriate quantities of kits for all participants, it is critical that we have an accurate head count for the workshop. Please use the link below to complete your early registration for the meeting and reserve your kit today!

Additionally, if you are interested in contributing a talk, please complete the advance registration to reserve your spot. Space is limited, so be sure to register today!

If you have any questions or problems with the link, please email Joan Vogtman (meeting co-host) at jmvogtman@mail.wvu.edu.

Housing – We have reserved a block of 10 rooms at the Hampton Inn in Frostburg for the rate of $149.0 + tax. You must reserve your room by Friday 24 October in order to receive this rate. You can use the link or call the Hampton Inn in Frostburg directly. I reserved the rooms for both Friday and Saturday night, to give attendees the most options.

Cost – Cost for the conference will be $5 for the A-AAPT membership fee and $20 for the food for the conference. That cost will cover the coffee and snacks on Saturday morning and lunch on Saturday afternoon. Dinner on Friday is not included.

Parking – The easiest parking options will be the CCIT lots off of Environmental Drive or the Frampton Lower lot. Given the final home football game of the season and the Appalachian STEM festival are both happening on Saturday, it is probably better to avoid the main entrance to campus and the large lots there.
