Spring ’21 Mtgs – Announcement

2/28/2021:

Call For Talks/Abstracts: In lieu of our normal annual meeting we decided to try meeting virtually for the 2020-21 academic year this spring.  In order to reduce “zoom fatigue” we will hold a series of shorter virtual meetings at some different time options to better match a wider range of participants’ schedules.  We are proposing the following dates for three meetings in the series, each meeting in the series would be 1 to 2 hours each:

1)  Saturday March 27, 2021    1:00-~2:30 pm (UPDATE 3/22: we have canceled this option due to lack of interest)

2)  Tuesday, April 6, 2021         7:00-~8:30 pm

3)  Thursday, April 15, 2021      7:00-~8:30 pm

So we are calling for abstracts starting now for any of these three dates. The talk/abstract submission form link is here (more explanation below, soft deadline March 20 next soft deadline for April 6th session is March 30)

Talk/Abstract Submission Google Form https://forms.gle/himCfu66skXsAryW9

In one or more sessions we may also have some open discussion time for people to share experiences about teaching in the current and ever-evolving COVID environment.   Depending on the number of abstracts received for each session we will adjust the length of each session and we may even add a fourth session if there is enough interest for a different day.  Contributed talk lengths will be 15 minutes each (10+5) by default but we are open to other desired talk lengths.   Please email frantz@ohio.edu or fill out the submission google form at the link above, to submit your interest in giving a talk along with your desired talk title and/or abstract.

Please let us know in your email or on the submission form which session or whether you can be flexible to allow us to choose which session. And if you are interested in a talk even if none of these sessions work, please also email frantz@ohio.edu and or fill that into the form and  let us know that too.

DEADLINE:  March 20, March 30 (sort of):  The abstract submission form will remain open until the start of the last April 15th session proposed above, so last minute additions can be accepted, but obviously for determining the length of the sessions and any necessary adjustments,  please submit your interest by email or the form link above as soon as possible preferably in the next week or two, but strongly recommended to be submitted no later than Tuesday March 30.     If we have not received enough  interested parties one week before each of the above proposed times we may cancel that session.
